Research Interests

The goal of our research group is to fundamentally understand thermal and charge transport of functionalized nanoscale materials and provide valuable insights for energy conversion and energy storage technologies that can enable sustainable energy.

Physical properties at the nanoscale are often deviated from the ones at the bulk scale. While the size of miniaturized devices scales down to tens of nanometer level, characterization and understanding of physical properties at the nanoscale is critically important. Among many physical properties, we are particularly interested in thermal and charge transport properties of functional nanomaterials. We employ novel tools and techniques, including, but not limited to, Atomic Force Microscope (AFM), Scanning Tunneling Microscope (STM), Scanning Thermal Microscope (SThM), and suspended micro-island devices. With the knowledge obtained from these studies, we will help engineer functional materials and further develop state-of-the-art technologies.
